Nativity Quilt

It started with a parent.  G’s mother makes quilt.  She brought in some of her work to share with us.

This one she made for her husband (who likes golf).

This one she made when she was a little girl.  It was our favourite.

We noticed that her quilts have a lot of shapes.  The shapes are put together to make pictures.  We wanted to make a quilt too.  So we wrote a list of things we would need.  Here is our list.

We started to design our quilt.  We drew a plan on paper.  We used the book “One Special Star” to help us plan our design.  Our quilt shows the Nativity scene of Jesus’ birth.

Everyone in our class made their own little quilt square for the border.

Then we cut the shapes out of fabric and glued them on a large black square.

We named all the shapes we used.  We counted how many of each kind of shape we used.

March 2015 – Our Quilt Story became a beautiful book.  It is now on our bookshelf!
